Trying FT8 on the 9cm microwave band - VK7HH |
Trying FT8 on the 9cm microwave band - VK7HH Who said microwaves were only line of sight!! After the success of our 2.4 GHz contact, VK7ZBX and I decided to try an FT8 contact using our 3.4 GHz systems. The main purpose was to test the frequency drift using digital modes. The transverter is a modified GARC panel with an internal 10 MHz TCXO that can drift with temperature changes. Note I'm in my shed out of the rain, behind a fence, and several houses! http://vk3atl.org/3400-transverter/ A contact was made on FT8 and QRA64D. WSPR produced too much drift. The path is not line of sight and is over 1200m (4000 feet) mountains. |
