OE6V - Microwave EME DXpediton 2020-02-03 to 2020-02-07 |
OE6V Microwave DXpedition quick summary (final) Hi All Many thanks to Werner, OE6FGN, his XYL Linde and the OE6V-Team for a great and unforgettable week in southeast Steiermark, Austria! Werner offered us (Dan, HB9CRQ, YL Sue, Sam, HB9COG) to use their contest QTH in Künegg (JN76VT), located on a hilltop in the middle of the Reichmann-Family wine yards. From there we had an amazing 360° view from the Austrian Alps into the Slovenian Alps. After a 840 Km drive we arrived Sunday evening at Werner’,s home. On Monday morning we drove the 15 Km to our radio location. There we immediately started building our station. At 10 o’,clock the TV Team of the Steiermark TV Station came to interview us. The same evening a 2.5 minute video was screened on ORF St. Monday 3.2.2020 we started operation at 12z on 1296 MHz and worked a total of 37 QSOs (35 JT65C, 2 CW) with 35 initials in 16 DXCC and 4 continents. We went QRT at 00z after more than 1h without any takers. Although we had some gusty winds throughout our operation we had no problems to overcome. Tuesday 4.2.2020 we started operation just before 12z on 2320 MHz and worked a total of 13 QSOs (12 JT65C, 1 CW) with 11 initials in 8 DXCC and 2 continents. We went QRT at 21z after more than 2h without takers. We had some rain and again gusty winds. Wednesday 5.2.2020 we had very strong winds gusting up to more than 70 km/h and some snowfall. This was too high wind to be QRV all the time. So we had to QRX several hours and we went QRT at 21.20z due to still very strong gusts. Never the less we worked on 3400 MHz 11 QSOs (10 JT65C, 1 CW) with 8 initials in 6 DXCC on 1 continent. Thursday 6.2.2020 we had a very nice sunny day with only little wind. At our moonrise (2° elevation) we started operation on 5760 MHz and we worked 21 QSOs (13 QRA64D, 1 JT65C, 7 CW) with 15 initials in 11 DXCC on 3 continents. We went QRT at 24z due to no activity. Friday 7.2.2020 we had another very nice sunny day with only little wind. We started again to operate on 10368 MHz at 2° elevation. We worked 26 QSOs (23 QRA64D, 3 CW) with 24 initials in 20 DXCC on 4 continents. At 00.30z (8.2.2020) we went QRT due to no takers. Saturday 8.2.2020 in the morning we dismantled and packed our station. At noon we enjoyed a very nice Farewell-Lunch with Werner and Linde. Sunday 9.2.2020 in the morning we drove back home where we arrived in the late afternoon. Although we could have worked many more stations we are very happy with the total results: 108 QSOs (94 digital, 14 CW) for 93 initials. QSL policy: QSL only direct including SAE to: HB9Q, P.O.Box 133, CH-5737 Menziken Next week we will post the full story with pictures, TV cast and full log at https://hb9q.ch/2018/?page_id=1999 Last but not least, after a DXpedition is before a DXpedition…, stay tuned for the next announcement!
