Hi All
We are very happy to announce our next Q-Team DXpedition!
Werner, OE6FNG of the OE6V EME and Contest group, offered us to use their
shack/QTH to activate the microwave bands on EME. It is located at the
vineyards of the Reichmann family in Kühnegg, Steiermark, Austria
(JN76VT). The OE6V team is very active on 50 and 144 EME and did very
successful 50 and 144 MHz EME DXpeditons to ZA and HB0. Of course it was a
great pleasure to accept the offer! We will visit the OE6V team coming
February and we are very much looking forward to be QRV EME together with
them on 5 microwave bands (1296, 23xx, 3400, 5760, 10xxx MHz)!
Here our plan:
2. February 2020
The Q-Team will drive the 840 km to Mureck (JN76VT) which is on the
S5-border.
3. February
Build the station at the OE6V QTH in the vineyard. We hope to be ready and
QRV by moonrise at about 12z.

8. February
Dismantle and pack station. Farewell dinner.
9. February
Drive back the 840 km to HB9.
CW: Although it is on the limit, we will work CW on all bands. However only
with big-guns and after the pile-up on JT/QRA is worked.
Equipment:
1.5m dish 1x2mm mesh, homemade automatic az and el control
1296: 100W at feed, circular, preamp at horn
23xx: 90W at feed, circular, preamp at horn
3400: 80W at feed, circular, preamp at horn
5760: 80W at feed, circular, preamp at horn
10xxx: 50W at feed, v-pol, preamp at horn
We will be using WSJT-X 2.1.2. On 23, 13 and 9cm we use JT65C with Doppler
Control (“Own Echo”, in other words we listen on our own echo). On 6
and 3cm we will be using QRA64D (if necessary JT4F) including Doppler
Control (“Constant Frequency On Moon” and if necessary “Full Doppler
to DX Grid”). Hopefully more people take advantage of automated Doppler
control. Especially on 6 and 3cm it is a MUST for successful QRP
operations.
We will have internet access and during our activities we will be stand-by
on the HB9Q band loggers. We also will check our e-mails several times a
day.
How big needs your station to be to work us?

On 13cm 2m dish and 100W at the feed
On 9cm 2m dish and 50W at the feed
On 6cm 1.5m dish and 80W at the feed
On 3cm 0.75m solid dish with 60W at the feed

OE6V Microwave DXpedition quick summary (final)
Hi All
Many thanks to Werner, OE6FGN, his XYL Linde and the OE6V-Team for a great
and unforgettable week in southeast Steiermark, Austria!
Werner offered us (Dan, HB9CRQ, YL Sue, Sam, HB9COG) to use their contest
QTH in Künegg (JN76VT), located on a hilltop in the middle of the
Reichmann-Family wine yards. From there we had an amazing 360° view from the
Austrian Alps into the Slovenian Alps.
After a 840 Km drive we arrived Sunday evening at Werner’,s home. On Monday
morning we drove the 15 Km to our radio location. There we immediately
started building our station. At 10 o’,clock the TV Team of the Steiermark TV
Station came to interview us. The same evening a 2.5 minute video was
screened on ORF St.
Monday 3.2.2020 we started operation at 12z on 1296 MHz and worked a total
of 37 QSOs (35 JT65C, 2 CW) with 35 initials in 16 DXCC and 4 continents. We
went QRT at 00z after more than 1h without any takers. Although we had some
gusty winds throughout our operation we had no problems to overcome.
Tuesday 4.2.2020 we started operation just before 12z on 2320 MHz and worked
a total of 13 QSOs (12 JT65C, 1 CW) with 11 initials in 8 DXCC and 2
continents. We went QRT at 21z after more than 2h without takers. We had
some rain and again gusty winds.
Wednesday 5.2.2020 we had very strong winds gusting up to more than 70 km/h
and some snowfall. This was too high wind to be QRV all the time. So we had
to QRX several hours and we went QRT at 21.20z due to still very strong
gusts. Never the less we worked on 3400 MHz 11 QSOs (10 JT65C, 1 CW) with 8
initials in 6 DXCC on 1 continent.
Thursday 6.2.2020 we had a very nice sunny day with only little wind. At our
moonrise (2° elevation) we started operation on 5760 MHz and we worked 21
QSOs (13 QRA64D, 1 JT65C, 7 CW) with 15 initials in 11 DXCC on 3 continents.
We went QRT at 24z due to no activity.
Friday 7.2.2020 we had another very nice sunny day with only little wind. We
started again to operate on 10368 MHz at 2° elevation. We worked 26 QSOs (23
QRA64D, 3 CW) with 24 initials in 20 DXCC on 4 continents. At 00.30z
(8.2.2020) we went QRT due to no takers.
Saturday 8.2.2020 in the morning we dismantled and packed our station. At
noon we enjoyed a very nice Farewell-Lunch with Werner and Linde. Sunday
9.2.2020 in the morning we drove back home where we arrived in the late
afternoon.
Although we could have worked many more stations we are very happy with the
total results: 108 QSOs (94 digital, 14 CW) for 93 initials.
