RMS Voltage Current and Power
The rms value does not provide any information about the nature of the signal. However, it offers a meaningful idea about the strength of the waveform. In this lecture, from Analog Arts (http://www.analogarts.com), we review power dissipation in DC and AC circuits, and study different methods to derive the rms value of an AC signal, graphically, mathematically, and sampling.
We show the rms values of typical signals and discuss how to develop RMS values of composite signals. Other topics include, the household electrical outlets voltages which are defined by their RMS voltages, DC and AC voltages that generates the same amount of power, identical heat in a resistive element, or brightness in an illuminated component, mathematical root mean square value, and some more.
